I Used To Be The Life of The Party…
And then the party nearly killed me.
I grew up in chaos. Childhood sexual abuse. Parents who were addicts. A home that never felt safe. I learned very early to survive, to perform, to please, to disappear into whatever made the noise stop.
By the time I was an adult I was very good at all of it. I was loud and I was fun and I was the last one standing at the end of every night. I had a whole life that looked one way from the outside.
You know how this part goes.
The drinking. The drugs. A marriage that fell apart. Post-separation abuse that I'm still making sense of. Years of pulling my own hair out and not being able to tell anyone because I didn't have the words for it and I didn't think anyone would understand.
I tried a lot of things. I sat in a lot of rooms. I did the work that was available to me and some of it helped and some of it didn't touch the real thing at all.
A few years ago I got sober. And for the first time I stopped just surviving and started actually looking at what was underneath all of it.
I thought the party was over, but the real party was only just getting started.
The Thing Nobody Told Me
The addiction wasn't the problem.
The addiction was the solution - to pain I'd never been given permission to feel, to beliefs about myself I'd formed before I had the language to question them, to a version of life that never felt safe enough to be present in.
When I finally understood that - everything changed.
Not overnight. Not perfectly. I'm still in it. Still doing the work. Still figuring out who Georgia is when she's not performing or numbing or surviving.
But I know something now that I didn't know then.
It is always darkest before the dawn. And the dawn does come.
Why I Became a Coach
I trained as a Rapid Transformation Coach under Marisa Peer, one of the most respected names in subconscious therapy globally, because RTT is the only approach I've encountered that goes to the actual root. Not the behaviour. The belief underneath the behaviour.
The one formed in childhood. The one that says I'm not safe. I'm not enough. I don't deserve good things.
Once we find it - we change it.
A Note On Who I Am
I’m queer. I'm a survivor. I'm in recovery. I'm a coach.
I'm not a therapist and I won't pretend to be. I will always tell you honestly if I think you need clinical support - and I'll help you find it.
But I am someone who has been where you are. And that changes everything about how I show up for the people I work with.
I also have a podcast. When The Party Is Over - honest conversations about what comes after the chaos. Recovery. Trauma. The long and worthwhile work of becoming yourself. You can find it wherever you listen to podcasts.
